"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

These were all parked behind a hotel near me. Someone made an attempt at some point to rope them off, but that attempt didn’t even rise to the level of half-assed (caution tape was lying on the ground). There were only 3 different models; 750i, X5 xDrive40e, and X1 xDrive28i. They were all black, silver or grey. The only clue I had to their purpose was on the door of one of the black 750is furthest from the entrance. It’s for one of BMW’s corporate sponsorships, the America’s Cup Yacht race. No idea what the purpose of the cars is or why they are here.

The cup was in Chicago. They must be on their way to the west coast for something?

I believe the US headquarters are in NJ, but then a lot of car companies are headquartered there. Don’t ask me why - I do not know.

I wonder why they all appear to be being driven rather than shipped?

In their defense, the manufacturer BMW uses to produce reverse cameras have been known to come out calibrated incorrectly. This causes most BMWs park outside lines

Well we know it’s not the driver’s fault. Nothing ever is.

Yeah good question. Though I wouldn’t mind taking a brand new 750 on a nice long trip!
